Bit late finding this but definitly one of my favourite arcade games. The game is in essence a flag based game – the object of which is to secure flags around one of three (soon to be four) maps. If you have more flags than your opposition their score decreases and vice versa.

What’s good-

It’s 1200 points and it’s unbelievably good fun. On the face of it Battlefield 1943 is simple and not packed with features. Once you immerse yourself in the goodness it’s brilliantly executed. You have the choice of three types of soldier, the Scout – long range sniper, the Infantry -close range machine gun and bazooka and the Rifleman – Rifle and Grenade Launcher. But that is just where the fun starts – you can also find Jeeps – fast but vulnerable, Tanks slow but hard, landing craft, air craft carrier and planes. A couple of games in and I’m now absolutely hooked, it has the same hook as COD, Battlefield Bad Company etc. in the fact you can run around and shoot people in the head but much more than that the vehicles add many more dimensions to the game.

The level of options available to you are many – Secure a tank with a team mate and go on a rampage – skirt the island with your landing craft looking for a suitable sneaky place to land – find a plane and shoot / bomb a flag – one of my favorite things to do is find a plane – circle the island then crash the plane into a heavily fortified enemy position- at the last point jumping out and parachuting into the enemies position which is now in a state of chaos. Great fun.
